The City of Sherwood was established in 1893 and covers 4.5 miles of land at the southern edge of the Portland metropolitan region, in northwestern Oregon. Sherwood lies in the southeast corner of Washington County’s Tualatin Valley. This is a beautiful and thriving area of Oregon and is a great place to buy a home or invest in some commercial real estate.
The original name of the town was Smockville, named after James Christopher Smock. In 1891, Robert Alexander, a local businessman, gave it its current name. He likely named it after his hometown in Sherwood (Michigan).
