Sheridan can be found in Yamhill County, Oregon. The Willamette Valley is located in the west part of the city. It lies at the base the Northern Oregon Coast Range and the South Yamhill River. Sheridan is located west of McMinnville along Oregon Route 18. The highway and Oregon Route 18 business run east to west through Sheridan, passing parallel to the river. Sheridan Bridge crosses the river in Sheridan.
The community has its own school district with one traditional high school. Sheridan Days in June and the Mud Drags in July are the main events in town. Sheridan was named after the American Civil War general Philip Henry Sheridan.
